The 25 year old England hopeful has racked up 17 Premier League goals this term, a tally that is all the more laudable given his side have been relegated from the top tier, and a move to St Mary’s looks to be on the cards.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle United are all chasing Austin though Ronald Koeman’s side are apparently in ‘pole position’ to land the Loftus Road marksman.

Perhaps the fact that Koeman is more likely to be able to offer a guarantee of regular first team action appeals to Austin, who would surely struggle to force his way in to Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven.

A move to Liverpool would see Austin compete with the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli whilst a move to St James’ Park may not appeal down to the turmoil the Magpies are currently in the midst of.
