Stoke City have decided that they will sell goalkeeper Asmir Begovic in the summer transfer window – putting Premier League trio Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United, along with Spanish giants Real Madrid, on high alert.

It is believed that Stoke chiefs value Begovic at £8m and want to put the cash received from his transfer towards strengthening other positions in the senior squad.

According to the Metro, the Potters are ready to put the Bosnian on the market, as Mark Hughes believes youngster Jack Butland is ready to become the club’s no.1.

Begovic has just one-year remaining on his current contract, and the player himself reportedly wants to leave the Britannia Stadium at the end of the season having had his mind swayed by the interest of top clubs in Europe.

With Petr Cech’s future at Stamford Bridge uncertain, Blues boss Jose Mourinho may view the affordable 27-year-old as an ideal replacement to the Czech Republic international.
