With Raheem Sterling’s future in doubt as he himself has stalled on committing himself to a new contract, Ibe looked to follow him out the exit door.

However, the Reds can now give their long suffering fans a huge boost by revealing that the teenager will likely put pen to paper on a lucrative new deal at some point over the next week.

Ibe has consistently shunned the need for an agent, instead leaving the handling of his affairs to his parents, who he believes are best placed to take care of his best interests.

“I don’t believe I need one [an agent] – I think my parents can do the job and they are the best people to have around me,” he said.

“My main concern has always been playing football and if I had a decisionon a contract or something else off the pitch then I would always go to my parents for advice anyway.

“I would still do that even if I had an agent, so I don’t really see the point. If I need help, my parents will sort it out. My family will always be no.1 to me, and I trust them implicitly.”
