Manchester City have reportedly joined race to sign £25million rated Monaco midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, who is seen as a possible replacement for vice-captain Yaya Toure, according to The Sun.

The 22-year-old has been in superb form for the Ligue 1 side this season and was brilliant in the Champions League first-leg round of 16 knockout tie against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in February as he opened the scoring with a deflected effort en route to Monaco winning 3-1 and eventually progressing into the quarter-finals.

With the future of Toure in doubt following comments from the player’s agent as reported by Sky Sports last week, a move for the French youngster would be seen as the ideal replacement this summer given his physical attributes, which are similar to the Ivorian.

City will face competition from Premier League champions Chelsea as well as Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs, who have all been linked with the France international.
