Times journalist James Ducker has also revealed who the players whose deals end next summer are, possibly revealing who is in talks with the Old Trafford hierarchy. David De Gea, Robin van Persie, Ashley Young, Phil Jones, Jonny Evans, Rafael, Anders Lindegaard, and Michael Carrick are the group that could be in danger of leaving the club on a free if contract extensions aren’t agreed.

Most important for the Red Devils out of that list is goalkeeper De Gea. The 24-year-old has been in brilliant form this season, helping the side to concede only 36 goals in their 36 top flight matches to date. This is despite manager Louis van Gaal having to contend with numerous injuries to his back line. Even with all of these possible departures, Woodward is confident that the side will be ready to compete next year with a full squad. According to Associated Press journalist Rob Harris, he said:
