The Czech Republic international has had his place in the starting line up taken by Thibaut Courtois since the latter returned from a loan at Atletico Madrid last summer. As a result the 32-year-old has only played 15 times in all competitions for the Blues this season, mostly in the cups.

This has led to the goalie being linked to the Emirates and Anfield, as well as Turkish giants Besiktas. His agent Viktor Kolar had told talkSPORT on Friday that Cech was already being allowed to speak to new clubs.

He said:”Petr has a valid contract with his current club, however, I can confirm that we have been permitted by Chelsea to negotiate with interested parties and Petr has confirmed his interest to play regularly at a top club.”

However, Mourinho is still keen on keeping the former Stamford Bridge hero with the team. It is also likely that the 53-year-old is loathe to see the stopper at on of his direct rivals such as the Gunners or the Merseyside outfit.

He said: “I don’t know if it’s absolutely true what the agent is saying. Petr is one of my best so I would like him to stay and I have to say; yes, I am optimistic that he can be here next year.”
