After a going trophyless in the last campaign, this is the first of four games which could give the Catalan club the treble in manager Luis Enrique’s first season at the helm. They are in the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao at the end of the month, before what is possibly the main event – the Champions League final – versus Juventus in June.
However, the Blaugranas will have to go through at least the first of these encounters without striker Luis Suarez. The former Liverpool man is nursing a hamstring injury. Meanwhile Atletico boss Diego Simeone goes in to the match with only Tiago ruled out as he is suspended. Atleti also have a reason to chase victory, knowing three points will guarantee them third place in the league, and no Champions League qualifying match.
