The Belgian international handed in a transfer request at the Midlands club two years ago, but ended up staying, however, this time around he looks likely to be moved on.

Liverpool have kept a close watch on him this season, and are not thought to be put off by Villa’s £30m asking price, as they look to rebuild their squad next season.

Benteke has bagged himself nine goals in his last eight games for Tim Sherwood’s men, and will still be hopeful of lifting the FA Cup at the end of the month.

Currently earning £50,000-per-week at Villa, Liverpool would seek to double his earnings to £100,0000-a-week.

Manager Tim Sherwood has warned the prolific Belgian that he faces putting his Euro 2016 spot in danger should he move, though.
