However, they weren’t feeling the same way when Southampton’s key player Adam Lallana was pushing for a move to the red half of Merseyside last summer. They were calling for the Saints to let the midfielder leave the club, and backing his efforts to force a transfer. The 27-year-old eventually did move to the Reds, but has had a disappointing first season that hasn’t been helped by injuries.

Now they are seeing the scenario from the other side it seems that the Anfield faithful aren’t so keen on Sterling’s efforts to move to a trophy chasing side. This seems to be displaying a certain amount of hypocrisy on the subject.

Were Liverpool to lose the England international it would be the third key player manager Brendan Rodgers has lost in just over the last year. Luis Suarez was sold to Barcelona last summer, and club legend Steven Gerrard has already announced that he will be joining MLS side LA Galaxy at the end of the campaign.
