Why Man Utd’s David de Gea is the Galactico signing Real Madrid have been waiting for

Instead of the former Tottenham man, Los Blancos are thought to have offered Fabio Coentrao in a deal for the Red Devils’ number one. This isn’t a complete disaster for Louis van Gaal, with the Portuguese having interested United in previous years. However, since the signings of Luke Shaw and Daley Blind it is unknown if they would want another left-back.

As a result United want a cash deal of around £28.6 million for the Spain international, who has just over one year left on his current contract. The Old Trafford outfit have offered him a new deal worth £200,000 a week to try and keep the 24-year-old at the club, but he is yet to sign anything. This has led to the reports linking him away.

Meanwhile Bale has come under pressure at the Bernabeu in his second season. Despite scoring 13 goals and creating another nine in 31 La Liga games during the campaign, fans have booed the Welshman and called for him to leave Los Blancos. A swap deal could have made all parties happy, had Madrid not ruled it out.
