The Blues are expected to add another striker to their squad when the transfer window opens in July as Didier Drogba looks to set to depart when his contract expires next month, while the future of Loic Remy remains unclear after he has struggled to make much of an impact since his summer move from Queens Park Rangers.

Should both decide to seek a new challenge elsewhere, it would leave the Barclays Premier League champions short of numbers in attack to provide competition for Diego Costa, whose had his fair share of injury problems throughout the campaign.

Desailly believes the arrival of Cavani to Stamford Bridge in the summer would send out a major statement to the rest of their potential challengers for the Premier League next season and across Europe.

“Chelsea needs another striker.” The former Chelsea defender said (via The Telegraph)

“Costa has done well, Drogba also, but they need a third top player.”

“A Cavani, someone very close to Costa [in ability] to be able to think about winning a Champions League.” Desailly added.
