The 28-year-old German international has made just 11 La Liga apperances this season and has barely featured for Los Blancos since contract talks broke down at the start of the year, but he insisted that he hasn’t been injured and claims the club decided to drop him from the team:

“I did have a small injury, a pain in my right heel, but that wasn’t why I wasn’t playing.” Khedira is quoted to have said in the Spanish publication Marca (via Mail Online)

“It wasn’t a complicated injury, I was able to play.”

“I’ve always felt that I’ve had the coach’s backing, but the message indirectly came through to me that I was no longer needed, I was frozen out and wouldn’t have a chance to continue playing.” he added.

Khedira revealed vial his official Instagram account that he will be looking for a new challenge this summer:

This news is likely to spark a transfer battle between a host of European clubs for the midfielder’s signature as the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United all registering a interest in the player who will be a free agent in the summer.
