Real Madrid have called in the help of super-agent Jorge Mendes to negotiate a £20 million deal for Manchester United star David De Gea, reports the Daily Mirror.
The Red Devils are thought to want £30 million for the 24-year-old, but with only one more season left on his contract Los Blancos think they can get him for a cheaper price. There have been no signs that the keeper is going to sign a new deal at Old Trafford anytime soon, and this may force them to cash in before his value depreciates even further.
Mendes has influence at the Bernabeu and in Manchester, being the agent for several players at both clubs. He is meeting the Real hierarchy this week, and the goalie will be on the agenda, which could be bad news for Louis van Gaal.
The 63-year-old has been attempting to keep De Gea at United after his brilliant season. The Spain international has been integral in their successful attempt to qualify for the Champions League this campaign, and were he to leave it would be a major blow.
