Santos Laguna are now 2-0 up against Chivas in their semi final tie in Mexico’s Liga MX on Sunday night.
They has taken the lead after 38 minutes thanks to Cape Verde forward Djaniny, but Carlos Izquierdoz’s goal in the 56th minute has almost certainly put the tie beyond doubt.
The goal came off a Nestor Calderon corner, meaning Calderon has supplied the assist for both of his side’s goals. Izquierdoz rose highest o perform an impressive ‘backwards’ header, that went in off the post and left Chivas’ veteran keeper Luis Michel with no chance.
There are 25 minutes remaining in the game. If Santos hold on they will play either Pachuca or Queretaro in the final.
Away goals are the first decider (ahead of seed). It means that Chivas need three goals if they want to complete a remarkable comeback.
