Manager Arsene Wenger has long been interested in signing Benzema, and may finally be able to get his man. With Los Blancos attempting to sign Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, the France international may be allowed to leave. If the Gunners are successful in landing the 27-year-old then they are willing to let Olivier Giroud leave the Emirates.

This is despite the forward having a very strong second half to the last season. The 28-year-old scored 12 goals in the 24 matches from January, silencing some of his doubters. Given that superlative form, the Express claim PSG would be keen to sign Giroud if he is allowed to leave north London.

However, his national team rival could be seen as on another level, having netted 22 times in 44 games for the Galacticos this campaign. In Madrid, Benzema’s had to consistently play second fiddle to Cristiano Ronaldo at the Bernabeu, but could become the focal point of this Arsenal side – and propel them to the Premier League title.
