Having claimed last week that Ancelotti had signed a pre-contract deal with Man City, the Metro now suggest Ancelotti’s sacking puts him a step closer to taking the reins at the Premier League runners-up.

Furthermore, Sky Sports’ La Liga expert Graham Hunter claimed in March that City players are confident that a bid will be made to lure Ronaldo to the blue half of Manchester during the next transfer window:

“I know that the players at Manchester City were talking very, very firmly that they believed there was a successful move coming from that club over the last couple of weeks.” He said according to Revista de la Liga.

“Whether that makes it true or not, I wouldn’t like to say.”

“What we know is the mega clubs, with petrodollars, there’s never been a better time to say: ‘Well, would you like to cash in on your chips?” Hunter added.

Ronaldo is known to have a positive relationship with his now former manager Ancelotti, an posted an image on Twitter of the pair following the last game of the season against Getafe at the weekend.

The 30-year-old expressed his desire to continue working with the Italian next season but following the ex-Chelsea manager’s departure from the club on Monday night, it could mean that Ronaldo gets that wish in the Premier League instead.
