The Colombian international has been quickly returned to parent club Monaco after a dismal campaign with Manchester United saw him bag just four goals in 29 appearances across all competitions.

However, he is said to be desperate to prove himself in the English top flight, and will take a reduced wage in order to join up with Chelsea after the made another season-long loan offer.

Falcao currently earns a weekly wage of £265,000, but is willing to shave off £100,000 from that to link up with the west Londoners.

Chelsea are keen to land another goalscorer with Didier Drogba hanging up his boots, and the move could be facilitated by the fact that Falcao shares an agent with Blues boss Jose Mourinho.
