Liverpool’s miserable season concluded with a 6-1 defeat at Stoke City that mean Rodgers saw his side fall from a runners-up finish in 2013/14 to a sixth place spot this term.

Aussie keeper Brad Jones and England international Glen Johnson have seen their contracts expire and are on their way out this summer, though perhaps surprisingly Kolo Toure has earned a new deal.

Strikers Fabio Borini, Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli will all be made available as Rodgers seeks to conduct an attacking shake-up, having identified Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke and Burnley forward Danny Ings as potential additions.

Spanish wide-man Jose Enrique has struggled with form and fitness and has been told to find himself a new club but perhaps the biggest shock among the seven listed as being on their way out by this source comes in the form of Croatian Lazar Markovic.

Rodgers forked out £20m to bring in the 21 year old from Benfica and though the attacker hasn’t set the world alight in his debut season on Merseyside it would still be harsh if he were to be offloaded this summer.

Clearly when Liverpool signed Markovic it would have been with a view to the long-term, and clearly very few Anfield players have come out of this campaign with any credit.
