It’s no secret that Marco Verratti has a great admiration for Carlo Ancelotti, the coach who brought him to Paris Saint-Germain from Pescara in 2012.

The Italian coach’s presence at Real Madrid was the main driving force behind a rumoured Verratti switch to the Bernabeu this summer.

Major clubs across Europe—including Manchester United, Arsenal Barcelona and Chelsea—have all been linked to the Italy international.

However, it had been believed that Real—with Ancelotti in the hotseat—had the edge on their transfer rivals should they wish to sign the 22-year-old.

However, Ancelotti was relieved of his duties earlier this week, with the former AC Milan and Chelsea coach paying the penalty for failing to win either the Spanish championship or the Champions League title this season.

According to 6cero, several Real Madrid transfer targets will no longer be considered now that the Italian manager has left the club.

It is rumoured that Ancelotti’s departure also significantly reduces the attraction of the Bernabeu for Verratti.

It remains to be seen whether the technically-magnificent central midfielder will remain at the Parc des Princes beyond the summer, or whether Ancelotti’s departure from Madrid will encourage some of the player’s other suitors to make a move for the player.
