Benitez is free to takeover from the recently sacked Carlo Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabeu after confirming his exit from Serie A outfit Napoli following the last game of the Italian season at the weekend (via BBC Sport).

Ancelotti was dismissed as Los Blancos manager on Monday night after failing to deliver a trophy this season and that has prompted speculation that Benitez will be installed as Madrid’s new boss as early as next week.

However Babel, who played under Benitez at Anfield between 2007-2010 , took to social media and posted a message suggesting that Cristiano Ronaldo would not benefit from being coached by the Spaniard:

Benitez will turn his attentions to his last game in charge of Gli Azzurri on Sunday night as they must beat Lazio in order to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
