Manchester United star Marcos Rojo has described manager Louis van Gaal as distant and cold but still a good boss, reports the Daily Express.

The 25-year-old joined the Red Devils last summer for £16 million as part of the transfer splurge from the Dutchman in his first transfer window. However, he has been held back by injury problems in his debut season, making 26 appearances in the first team. He has performed well while playing th0ugh.

The Argentina international has still been named in his country’s squad for the Copa America, and it is back in South America that he has been speaking to the press.

The defender said: “Van Gaal is distant, very cold but has a lot of experience, he’s great coach and you learn a lot. Sometimes he seems very demanding.”

Van Gaal is unlikely to be annoyed about these comments, having just guided the Old Trafford outfit to a top four finish in the Premier League. The return of Champions League football will make it easier to recruit players ahead of an expected title challenge next time round.
