Earlier this week, the Old Lady were reported to have agreed terms for the Uruguayan forward who is believed to be seeking an exit from the Parc des Princes having handed in a transfer request according to the Metro.

According to Sports Media Set [also via the Metro], however, the Italian champions have now dropped their interest in the forward and are looking to pursue other options.

While Juve’s decision to look elsewhere may open the door for United to seal a move for the former Palermo and Napoli hitman, Cavani will likely have other options should he indeed look to leave Ligue 1 this summer.

The Red Devils will still have their work cut out if they are to secure a deal for one of Europe’s finest frontmen.

The Metro report that United’s Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool are also keen on the powerful forward, while Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are also rumoured to be interested on bringing the hitman to La Liga according to TalkSPORT.

Louis van Gaal will be desperate to improve his offensive line this season following the disappointing campaigns of Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie. The former has returned to AS Monaco following the expiry of his loan deal with the Red Devils not looking to move for him permanently, according to United’s official website.

The Dutchman managed only 10 league goals during a disappointing campaign and has been linked with a move to Qatar, according to the Telegraph.

28-year-old Cavani, by contrast, bagged 18 goals in 35 Ligue 1 outings as PSG secured the French title. The South American will look to help Laurent Blanc’s side complete an unprecedented French domestic quadruple when they meet Auxerre in the French Cup final on Saturday evening.
