The German international, who has also been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona, has had another fine campaign in the Bundesliga, and looks to be on his way out with the view of joining a bigger club.
Dortmund could only finish 7th in the German top flight this season, with Gundogan supposedly telling the club he would not be renewing his contract.
This put United on alert, but Spanish source Fichajes.com claims both they and Barca could be beaten to his signature by Bayern, who want to make another raid on their rivals.
Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski have both made the same move in the last two summers, and Gundogan also joining up with Pep Guardiola’s squad would be another major blow to Dortmund’s hopes of becoming title challengers again.
