The Gunners have both Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud performing well up front at the moment, with the pair scoring in their FA Cup final win over Aston Villa on Sunday. However, with the next challenge being to be in contention for the Premier League title they are likely to need some extra firepower in the position.

The Gabon international scored 24 goals in 48 appearances last season, his second with the German side. This is especially impressive considering how poorly BVB were playing in the first half of the campaign, when they slipped in to the Bundesliga relegation zone.

However, the North London club may have trouble getting their man, with him admitting that his dream is to play for Real Madrid. The 25-year-old said: “I want to pass the bar of twenty goals in the Championship to hope one day play at Real Madrid. I always dream of Spain.”

Arsenal would have to pay £29.9 million for the forward, and manager Arsene Wenger has shown his willingness to part with big sums of cash in recent summers. Last time round the 63-year-old brought in Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona and before that he acquired Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid, both for large transfer fees.
