The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to top flight rivals Liverpool, but it seems like he is keen to stick around the Emirates from the sounds of this. This will be good news for the Gunners, who have witnessed their forward flying back in to form after a long injury lay off. Walcott scored four goals in the final two games of the season to knock Olivier Giroud to the substitutes’ bench.

This will be a blow for the Reds though, who had been hoping to get the former Southampton man as part of a deal involving contract rebel Raheem Sterling. With their target looking happy in North London it may mean they have to accept cash for the wantaway winger. After failing to properly replace the departed Luis Suarez last summer they will want to avoid the same situation in the coming months with Sterling.

The striker said: “”I am sure things will get resolved. I just want to enjoy today. I have got England coming up and then we can think about that process, but it will take time, I am sure.”
