David De Gea has reportedly said his goodbyes to the Manchester United staff after agreeing a move to Real Madrid in the summer.

The Daily Star have revealed their understanding that the Spaniard has bid farewell to the Red Devils’ staff and is closing in on a move to the La Liga giants.

According to the newspaper, De Gea has come to the decision that he wishes to swap Old Trafford for the Santiago Bernabeu, and is now waiting for a fee to be agreed between the two clubs. The Daily Star claim that an opening bid of £20m is imminent.

The stopper has been linked to Real for much of the campaign, with his Manchester United contract set to expire in summer 2016 and no extension having been signed. It was reported that the former Atletico Madrid keeper had rejected a new deal worth £200,000 per-week to commit his future to Louis van Gaal’s side earlier in the year [via The Independent].

A busy summer is expected for the Spanish giants following Carlo Ancelotti’s sacking, as the Italian failed to deliver a trophy in his second season in charge.

Rafael Benitez is expected to be his replacement and is poised to be unveiled this week [via The Guardian].
