The England youngster has already indicated that he will not be signing a new deal with the Merseyside outfit and could be set for departure before his contract ends in 2017.

The Gunners have been credited with an interest in the 20-year-old but it would appear only a swap deal including two important squad players would entice the Merseyside outfit into selling.

Walcott has just one year remaining on his deal at the Emirates but after scoring in the FA Cup final against Aston Villa last Saturday, he hinted he will extend his stay in North London (via Mirror Sport).

Meanwhile Gibbs has found himself battling for the left-back spot with Nacho Monreal this season and looks to be second choice at the club after being left on the bench at Wembley.

There has been no indication that Arsene Wenger would be willing to do such a deal as he’s already insisted he wants to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season and selling the pair would send out the wrong message to supporters.
