The Old Trafford side have already acquired Dutch winger Memphis Depay and having secured a return to Champions League action for next term it’s clear that van Gaal has his sights set on a major squad overhaul.

Man United have £35.6m bid for French international Benzema who could well be a strong signing who could lead the club’s strike-force.

Loaned in forward Radamel Falcao was sent back to AS Monaco and veteran Robin van Persie has struggled for form this term, managing just ten Premier League goals, so a move for 27 year old Bernabeu star Benzema may be a wise one to consider.

The Premier League side will offer £46m for Welsh international Bale, an offer that may well need to be significantly improved if Man United are to tempt Real Madrid to sell.

The former Tottenham man had a superb debut campaign, following his world record £86m move to the Spanish capital, but has failed to his the same heights in his second season at Real Madrid which has led to a fair amount of criticism from a portion of the club’s fan-base.
