The midfielder impressed when appearing against the Gunners in AS Monaco’s 1-3 win at the Emirates back in February. Throughout the entire campaign the 22-year-old has made 33 appearances for the principality based side, and has helped them to an impressive defensive record in Ligue 1.

They conceded just 26 goals in 38 games in the division, with the youngster operating as a shield in front of the back four for the majority of the season. This could be perfect for the North London club, who have witnessed the emergence of Francis Coquelin over the last six months but are still need to bolster central midfield.

While manager Arsene Wenger already has plenty of creative and attacking talent to choose from, the 65-year-old could do with more defensive nous in the middle of the park. The Frenchman will have to fight off the Nerazzurri though, who the Express believe have made a £18 million bid for Kondogbia. AS Monaco are thought to be waiting for a £25 million offer though.
