Wenger has been tracking Southampton battler Schneiderlin for some months but now it appears the French international could be on his way to Man United and this has led the Gunners boss to track Kondgobia.

The 22 year old moved to AS Monaco from Sevilla in 2013 and has matured into a very effective defensive midfielder over the past two campaigns.

Inter Milan have already entered talks with Kondgobia’s agent but Arsenal will look to see off interest from the San Siro side but must meet the Ligue 1 side’s £25.4m valuation.

Arsene Wenger saw Francis Coquelin excel following his return to the north London club from a loan spell at Charlton Athletic but it would be wise for the Arsenal manager to nonetheless invest in this area of his squad.
