Rickie Lambert – Southampton
Perhaps slightly harsh given much of his lack of goalscoring form can be attributed to his failing to fit into Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool side. Nonetheless, following a season at the St Mary’s Stadium in which he earned his first call up to the England international squad – and scored on his debut – it’s difficult to see a recovery, even if he likely moves on in the summer.
Andy Carroll – Newcastle United
Such was his impressive form, that the former Magpies forward earned himself a – still unbelievable – £35m transfer to Liverpool. He failed to live up to the price-tag and finally secured an escape from Anfield, but with constant injury problems at West Ham, his career sadly seems to be coming to a premature end.
