The former Spain international is set to end his 17-year association with the Catalan giants following the Champions League final clash against Serie A champions Juventus at the weekend.

But just days before the showpiece occasion in Berlin, Barca released a touching tribute video for the 35-year-old which included pre-recorded messages from current team-mates such as Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets and Lionel Messi.

In addition there was a nice message from former Los Cules boss Louis van Gaal, who handed Xavi a first team debut against Valencia in October 1998.

Xavi will go down as one of the best central midfielders to have ever played the game as he has played a influential role for both club and country in the last decade.

With the Spanish national team he won the World Cup in 2010 and provided assists in both Euro 2008 and 2012 finals as they had a four year-spell of world domination.

Meanwhile for his boyhood club he has amassed a number of winners medals including an eighth La Liga title this season and will be hoping to end his illustrious Barca career by winning the Champions League for the fourth time.
