However, the Red Devils may be disappointed in their endeavours as Los Blancos are likely to offer just £20 million for the Spain international. With the 24-year-old’s contract ending in just over a year though, the Premier League giants may be forced to compromise so that they don’t lose their star player for absolutely nothing.

De Gea himself could be keen on the move as his family and girlfriend are based in Madrid. He did used to play for Real’s local rivals Atletico Madrid but this isn’t thought to be holding him back according to the Express. There have even been recent reports that the player has already said his goodbyes at Old Trafford, but the club has denied them.

The La Liga side recently appointed former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez to replace Carlo Ancelotti, and the 55-year-old will be discussing transfer plans with president Florentino Perez before any transfer efforts begin. The United man is expected to be high on his list when their transfer movement begins though.
