Man United transfer news: Gareth Bale speaks on future

The Northern Irishman has been hit by injuries and a long suspension for spitting on Newcastle United forward Papiss Cisse this season, making just 17 appearances in all competitions.

Were he to stay with the Red Devils the 27-year-old would likely struggle for game time in the next campaign as well. Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, and Marcos Rojo are all ahead of him in the pecking order at Old Trafford, and the club have also been linked to Valencia centre-back Nicolas Otamendi over the past few months.

This has led to the Premier League trio believing that they could tempt the centre-back away from United. The Villans are the latest side to join the competition for his signature, and are favourites to get it according to the Express. This is despite only just avoiding relegation to the Championship last term.

However, the £10 million price tag may be a stumbling block with the Midlands side currently up for sale by owner Randy Lerner, and manager Tim Sherwood possibly having less transfer funds to play with as a result.
