Gomez, who is now 30 years old, joined current club Fiorentina in 2013 after spending the bulk of his playing time in Germany. He won Bundesliga titles with both Bayern Munich and Stuttgart and was part of the Bayern side that lifted the 2012-13 UEFA Champions League.

According to the report, Gomez’s agent has stressed that he wants to stay in Italy, but after only scoring four times in twenty games this season Fiorentina would be happy to see the player move on.

Gomez has been capped 60 times for the German national team and has scored 25 goals for his country in the process.

He played in both the 2008 and 2012 Euros, along with the 2010 World Cup – but he was not part of the squad for the World Cup winners in Brazil last summer.
