The defender has one year remaining on his current deal with the Anfield outfit and would be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January 2016.

It would appear that could become a reality as the 30-year-old, whilst on international duty, has spoken of his disappointment at the improved terms he’s been offered by the club:

“It’s (the contract offer) unacceptable for me,” he bemoaned.

With skipper Steven Gerrard on his way out of the club this summer, Skrtel will be one of the longest serving players left at the club should he stay and his leadership qualities will surely be key to a good campaign for the Reds next year.

As rumours over Raheem Sterling’s future continues (via Mirror Sport) manager Brendan Rodgers must be desperate to avoid losing both players this summer and he aims to improve on a disappointing season where neither Champions League football or a trophy was delivered.
