The Colombia international is set to play for his country in the continental showpiece, with their campaign beginning on June 14. He clearly doesn’t want any distractions when involved at the big event.

In order to try and push through a move to Stamford Bridge the 29-year-old has indicated a willingness to drop his current £265,000 a week wages, and most likely take a back up role at the club.

Diego Costa and Loic Remy both did well in the last campaign, and should be ahead of the former Old Trafford disappointment in the pecking order.

However, there is a snag in the deal, with the Blues preferring a loan move for the forward.

AS Monaco want a permanent deal to be worked out, after watching their asset lose value while temporarily with the Red Devils this season. Falcao’s value would likely deteriorate further being asked to be a reserve player under Jose Mourinho.
