The Spanish international played under Pellegrini at their former club Malaga, and was notably linked with City prior to making the move to the Bernabeu in the summer of 2013.

Real may now be willing to let the playmaker go already, with City hoping £32m will be enough to convince the La Liga giants to sell this summer as they eye a rebuilding process under new manager Rafael Benitez.

Isco could certainly fit in well at City, with the club arguably in need of a long-term replacement for their own Spanish midfield maestro David Silva, who will turn 30 next season.

According to the Daily Mirror, City are leading the chase to snap up the 23-year-old, who has long been regarded as one of the top young players in the world, also attracting interest from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.
