The 25-year-old has been with the Red Devils for 15 years, joining the club as as a youngster in 2000 from Bradford City. The Old Trafford faithful never took to the midfielder, with his performances not up to the standard expected at the club.

However, Toffees manager Roberto Martinez is a fan, having worked with him before during his time with Wigan. During a season long loan with the Latics in 2010/11 the England international scored four goals in 25 Premier League appearances, showing promise that he is yet to live up to.

There has been some improvement from Cleverley during his time with the Villans, especially under new manager Tim Sherwood. He even found his shooting boots when scoring three goals in three games in the latter stages of the campaign. Despite this the player has turned down a move to the Midlands to join their Merseyside rivals.
