David de Gea – Generally regarded as being the best goalkeeper in the Premier League this season, David de Gea was undoubtedly one of United’s best players and kept them in some important games. 9/10.

Rafael da Silva – Barely used by Louis van Gaal for some reason, Brazilian right-back Rafael looked solid enough whenever he did manage to get a game. 6/10.

Luke Shaw – A huge disappointment following his £30m move from Southampton, young left-back Luke Shaw will hope he can make more of an impact next season after looking unfit and unconfident in his time at Old Trafford so far. 5/10.

Phil Jones – Still not quite at the level he perhaps should be, but Phil Jones had some good games for United this year and could improve under the guidance of van Gaal – as long as he’s not on corner duty! 6.5/10.

Chris Smalling – A better season from the England defender, who showed real leadership particularly in the second half of the campaign. 7/10.

Marcos Rojo – A decent signing who should continue to improve, the Argentine defender was in and out of the side this season but still looks a player with plenty of potential. 6.5/10.
