Man Utd 2014/15 player ratings: De Gea star player with 9/10, new signing gets 8/10

Jonny Evans – A player who looks to have gone backwards, Jonny Evans was often a weak point in defence for United this season and shouldn’t be playing as often as he has. 5.5/10.

Daley Blind – A very solid first season from the Dutchman, who showed his class in either a deep-lying midfield role or sometimes at left-back. 7/10.

Ashley Young – One of the stories of the season, Ashley Young went from being a total flop at Old Trafford to one of the team’s star performers after some strong games at left-back and then further forward under van Gaal’s guidance. 8/10.

Antonio Valencia – Often played at right-back, it’s fair to say Antonio Valencia did not quite match Young’s success in switching positions and looks like one who’ll be replaced this summer. 6/10.

Michael Carrick – Reliable as ever, veteran midfielder Michael Carrick did not play a huge amount this season, but instantly looked the experienced head needed in the team when he did feature. 7/10.

Ander Herrera – A terrific signing who settled almost instantly, Ander Herrera really became a hugely important player for United in the latter part of the season, ending with a good contribution of eight goals and four assists. 8/10.
