The 29-year-old had a great season under new manager Louis van Gaal, even managing to take the places of some of his more illustrious teammates in the side. Both British record signing Angel Di Maria and fellow expensive summer signing Luke Shaw were left out at times for the England international.

Overall Young managed 29 matches, scoring twice and assisting another five goals. These appearances came on both the left wing, at left-back, and at wing-back when a three man defence was used by the Red Devils.

When van Gaal took over at Old Trafford the former Aston Villa man was one of those that some expected to be on their way out. However, he has managed to almost completely reverse that with this offer of a new deal. The wide-man could even be in for a recall to the national team, with Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson surely not ignoring his top class performances.
