Arsenal and Man United face competition from major sides for Ligue 1 star

UEFA have set a deadline of 11pm on September 1st for teams to tell them which players they will be using in the competition, with the group stage beginning shortly afterwards. The English transfer window is already closing a day later than usual due to August 31 being the late summer Bank Holiday this year.

This change could mean that the traditional late rush for players doesn’t occur, although more likely is that it just gets pushed forward five hours. Shockingly, Sky Sports News may even have to move well known anchor Jim White’s slot in the schedule!

In recent years some of the biggest moves have come in the final hours. Mesut Ozil joined Arsenal on deadline day in 2013, and last time round Radamel Falcao arrived at Old Trafford while Kurt Zouma went to Stamford Bridge.
