Ferrero is also in the country to try and sell Stefano Okaka to West Ham. The Italy international managed four goals in 33 appearances for the Serie A side this season, and the Hammers could be trying to bolster their strikeforce before a new manager is appointed at Upton Park.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will surely be very happy to get rid of their mercurial forward. The 24-year-old scored a paltry four goals in 28 matches this campaign, after joining the club for £16m the summer before. Manager Brendan Rodgers will likely now want to see the back of him in order to bring in some new faces to Anfield.

However, the Merseyside club may have to take a hit when getting rid of the former Manchester City man. Sampdoria are unable to afford the price that the Reds paid for the Italian, and also can’t pay the striker’s €6 million a year wages. As such a loan deal is most likely, which would mean Balotelli returns to the Premier League outfit next year if he doesn’t impress.
