The Reds face uncertainty over Sterling’s future at Anfield this summer, with Real Madrid among those interested and perhaps the most likely to snap him up ahead of next season.

This could then see Liverpool try a move for Real winger Denis Cheryshev, who has had a hard time getting into the first-team at the Bernabeu, though he has looked highly impressive on loan at Villarreal this season.

The Russian wide-man could certainly do a job in Brendan Rodgers’ side and looks a talent worth keeping an eye on.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are preparing to move for Cheryshev in the event of Sterling’s exit, though another long-term target of theirs, Gonzalo Higuain, seems most likely to be joining either Arsenal or Chelsea if he leaves Napoli this year.
