Manchester City striker wanted by Marseille and Norwich for summer transfer

Manchester City forward John Guidetti is the subject of transfer interest from Olympique de Marseille and Norwich City as he nears a summer move away from the Etihad Stadium.

The player has long been considered a great hope of the Citizens, but despite impressing during a series of loan moves, he has never managed to break into the first team at Manchester.

Having spent this term at Celtic, he looks likely to finally leave the 2014 Premier League champions for good having managed 15 goals in 35 matches in Scotland this season.

According to the Eastern Daily Press, newly-promoted Norwich City are eyeing the frontman and see the 23-year-old as they kind of hitman who could help them stay in the EPL.

However, Norwich face competition from Olympique de Marseille according to Le 10 Sport, with Marcelo Bielsa seeing the Swedish international as a viable replacement for Andre-Pierre Gignac should the out-of-contract star leave the Stade Velodrome.

The player himself has indicated that he would be tempted by the prospect of moving to play for OM.

“Marseille is a superb city with an incredible stadium,” Guidetti began.

“I wasn’t aware of this interest, it’s the first time I’ve heard about it, but it’s always good to learn that a big club like that are following you.”

The Daily Star reported recently that Marseille are considering offering Guidetti an annual salary of €4 million, although Celtic may well look to keep the forward for another campaign.

Feyenoord are also believed to be keen on the well-rounded attacker.
