Manchester United could be in a good position to sign one of their priority targets in central defence this summer after news that Valencia star Nicolas Otamendi has requested a move to Old Trafford.

The Argentine international is being strongly linked with a move to United this summer for around £36.4m, and he has now held crunch talks with the La Liga giants over being allowed to make the move to the Premier League.
Otamendi has impressed in the Spanish top flight this term, looking like one of the most solid defensive players in the division, and looking exactly what the Red Devils need in that part of the pitch after some uncertain performances from the likes of Jonny Evans and Phil Jones in 2014/15.
According to the Metro, Otamendi is equally keen to link up with Louis van Gaal at United, which could swing this deal in the club’s favour this summer.
