The Brazilian signed a five-year contract last season, and recently reaffirmed his intention to stay with Le Aquile. However, the Red Devils want to at least test that resolve with a move for the 22-year-old. Apparently manager Louis van Gaal thinks the youngster could fit perfectly in to his squad.
The attacking midfielder who can play anywhere across the front line had a stellar campaign in the season just gone. He scored eleven goals and created another seven in 37 appearances for the Serie A side, helping them to qualify for the Champions League ahead of teams such as Napoli.
This has piqued the interest of United, who look in need of a player with his ability to run and players and cause panic in defences. With record signing Angel Di Maria struggling and Ashley Young in form but not of any great quality, the Red Devils could do with a player to add an extra threat on the wing.
