The young midfielder, who has learned his trade under the guidance of Castilla coach Zinedine Zidane in the Spanish capital, is reportedly being eyed by the Baggies.

Marca have reported that the Throstles are planning on bringing the €5 million-rated Peruvian to the Hawthorns this summer and are planning to tie him down to the Black Country with a three-year contract.

Real, however, keen not to see the player depart for good, are believed to be insisting on inserting a buy-back clause into the contract in order to ensure that should Benavente improve considerably, he could return to the Bernabeu.

The 21-year-old has been dubbed the ‘Peruvian Ronaldinho’ according to the Daily Mail, due to his awesome agility, his fine technical prowess and his dribbling skills.

The playmaker can operate as a No.10 or on either flank, and clearly, some of Zidane’s majesty and invention has rubbed off on the youngster.
