Liverpool and Chelsea are believed to be competing for the Colombian, according to Le 10 Sport, with both looking to bolster their attacking options this summer.

The Pensioners have lost Didier Drogba on a free transfer, while Loic Remy has also been linked with a move away from the club. Both West Ham United and Crystal Palace are believed to be interested in the France international via the Daily Star.

There is also a question mark over the future of Diego Costa, with new Real Madrid coach Rafael Benitez believed to be keen on making the tenacious forward one of his first signings at the Bernabeu, according to the Telegraph [via Metro].

Liverpool are also in need of a striker.

The goals of Luis Suarez were not adequately replaced by Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert last season, with the former linked with a move away from Anfield this summer [Metro].

Wantaway forward Raheem Sterling has been linked with a move away from Merseyside [Telegraph], while Daniel Sturridge has yet to prove that he can remain fit to shoulder the attacking burden previously carried by Suarez.

Falcao failed to impress on loan at Manchester United last season, managing only four goals, and the club have opted not to secure him on a permanent signing.

Considering his inauspicious start to life in England, it is somewhat surprising that both Chelsea and Liverpool are keen on the South American.

The player himself may have to choose between playing for Liverpool, where he may be Brendan Rodgers’s leading man, or the Pensioners, where the prospect of silverware may be higher, but he would surely play second fiddle to Diego Costa.

The French source also report that Italian trio AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus are all believed to be keen on the former Atletico Madrid hitman.
